The five phases, the Academy, your 90 day plan, and the probation decision
Nothing in your first 90 days should arrive as a surprise. ORIGIN runs a defined onboarding journey with named owners and real dates, counted from your first day, which is day 1. This section walks the journey so you know what is coming and who owns each step.

The five phases
| Phase | When | What happens | Who owns it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Pre-onboarding | 5 days to 1 day before | Welcome email, paperwork into the docs vault, laptop, email and Teams accounts, system access, org chart, email signature, internal channels, the Code sent to pre-read, your Expenses project, first day meetings booked. | HR, with IT on access and equipment and Marketing on the signature |
| 2. First day | Day 1 | HR welcome session, the tour, introductions, reporting structure, the ORIGIN profile and values, the policy walkthrough, you sign the Code, IT verifies access, your manager sets expectations and assigns a buddy. | HR and your Hiring Manager, with IT |
| 3. First week | Days 3 to 5 | Department orientation, your responsibilities and KPIs, current projects and workflows, the tools walkthrough, mandatory training, the Academy quizzes, and your check-in. | Your Hiring Manager, and you for the quizzes |
| 4. First month | Days 10 to 30 | You draft and present your 90 day plan and your manager locks it, a one to one feedback session, progress and development needs assessed, the final exam, the 30 day review, and HR confirms onboarding complete. | You and your Hiring Manager, with HR |
| 5. Probation and 90 day | Days 60 to 90 | The 60 day check-in against your locked plan, the probation review scheduled, delivery assessed, the outcome confirmed, and your record closed. | Your Hiring Manager and HR |

The Academy, and the exam
The Academy is five acts, and this document is part of Act 01. After each act there is a quiz, and you need 90 percent to pass. Retakes are unlimited, and grading happens on the server, so the answers never reach your browser. Once all five act quizzes are passed the final exam unlocks, target day 25.

Two things to know before you sit it. It is recorded, as a Loom screen and camera recording, and your line manager does not proctor it. And it is not only for new joiners: everyone sits it, including the current team.

THE PASS MARK
Ninety percent, in every act quiz and in the final exam. This was ruled by Marwan Arban on 11 September 2026 and written into the register on 12 September 2026: tab 16 rows 6, 46 and 56 now agree. The earlier eighty percent is retired wherever you still see it in an older document.
Your 90 day action plan, which you write yourself
You are not handed a plan. You draft it. Owning your own plan is the ownership culture in practice rather than in theory.
- Day 10: you draft your 90 day action plan against your KPIs and your mandate.
- Day 12: you present it to your line manager and HR in a joint review session.
- Day 14: your Hiring Manager reviews and locks the plan, HR co-signs, and any change after that needs both of them.
- Once locked, objectives freeze and only progress moves. The lock is enforced in the database, not by goodwill.

Everything after day 14 reads off that locked plan, including the probation call. Write it as something you can be measured against, not something that sounds good in a meeting.
The checkpoints at 30, 60 and 90 days
The checkpoints are not one meeting each, and the work lands before the date it is named after.
| Checkpoint | What actually happens, and when | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| 30 days | Day 20, HR schedules the review. Day 25, your manager assesses progress against your initial objectives and identifies training needs. Day 28, progress against the locked plan. Day 30, HR sends the experience survey and confirms onboarding complete. | HR and your Hiring Manager |
| 60 days | Day 60, your manager checks in against the locked plan. | Your Hiring Manager |
| 90 days | Day 75, HR schedules the probation review. Day 85, your manager assesses delivery against the locked plan. Day 90, HR confirms the outcome and closes your record. | HR and your Hiring Manager |

You also get a monthly performance review for each of your first three months, set no later than the 5th of the month, moving to quarterly after probation. They are evidence based: HubStaff hours mapped to Asana tasks, plus your Asana delivery data.

The probation decision
At day 90 HR confirms the outcome: confirm, extend, or part ways. The decision reads off the plan you locked at day 14 and the delivery assessed at day 85. Your record then closes, and your documents stay in the vault.

TO CONFIRM
The journey in register tab 16 runs to day 90, but that is the journey, not a guarantee that your probation is 90 days: Open items row 109, marked Candidate, records an offer under negotiation with a six month probation. Your probation length is whatever your own signed contract states. Confirm it there and with HR, not from this section.
Where the exam sits in your score
Say it plainly, because the Academy is easy to treat as reading homework. The onboarding exam feeds the scorecard of every new hire, and it lands in Month 1, where your first monthly review sits. It is weighted, so it moves your score rather than being logged as done.

WHERE THE EXAM SITS IN YOUR SCORE
The onboarding exam is part of Month 1 of your scorecard and it carries weight, ruled by Marwan Arban on 12 September 2026. This section prints no weighting figure on purpose: read the weight from your own scorecard when it is applied, because that is the document that governs it.
If your contract is Hourly or Project-Based
The journey prunes by contract type. The quizzes, the final exam, the 90 day plan and the probation reviews apply to FTE and Part-Time; Hourly and Project-Based run the lean journey, 29 of the 48 steps. Two later steps still include Hourly: HR confirms completion at day 30, and the record closes at day 90.

IF YOUR CONTRACT IS HOURLY OR PROJECT BASED
You read Acts 01 to 04 and you take no quizzes and no exam, ruled by Marwan Arban on 12 September 2026. Act 05 is full time and part time material. If your contract type changes, the journey changes with it, so ask HR rather than assuming.
What you own
- Sign the Code on day 1 and read it. Act 01 Section 04 covers what it binds you to.
- Pass a quiz after each act at 90 percent, then the final exam around day 25.
- Draft your 90 day plan by day 10, present it by day 12, and keep your Asana tasks and timesheet current.
